A little while back, I posted an answer to a question on tumblr that has gotten an unexpectedly enthusiastic response. I tried to upload the comic here on dA, but kept running into issues.

Anyway, if you're interested in a little unsolicited life advice you can read it here. anthonyholden.tumblr.com/post/…

Take care, all!

You said exactly what I answered when some people in school
asked me where I take all my ideas for comics.
MY ANSWER: :iconalienguyplz:~Life~, people.
Life makes you remember the good and the bad things
and art is a way to express/deal/share them.
LIKE A DIARY! ;D

Very good answer, very motivating!
Glad that I've met you! ^.^)/)

You're a terrific artist, and that comic was really insightful. Sometimes I think I'm too old for this art thing, but that was really uplifting. Keep doing what you do!

Did you follow the link at the bottom? There are some words of advice from my friend Jake. [link]

Here is his advice: [link]

And the best way to learn drawing anatomy is to get out there and draw!!

What were you doing for money in between graduating high school and starting job as animator? And I really enjoyed the post!

This is the question I'm getting most frequently in response to this post.

I worked the most basic part time jobs--mostly in retail and food service. Nothing special. When I got into animation and drawing, I slowly transitioned from part-time, non-related work to doing more and more freelance, until eventually I was only working freelance. The transition took several years, but that's basically it.

I agree, it's awesome advice ^-^ It was really nice to read about what you did and the only other thing I would say for anyone learning something new-- just keep trying! Learn on your own if you can! I've known a couple folks in the game industry with no formal training at all.
